Hello, my name is Sarah…
I live in Pontefract with my husband and my three daughters. I am an Ofsted registered childminder, for children from birth to 12 years. I have worked in childcare all my adult life and i absolutely love my job. Forming a bond with the child and being part of their life, helping and watching them develop, learn and grow is amazing and so rewarding. Working as a childminder from home also enables me to spend more time with my family.
I have worked in the childcare profession since 1998 and have gained a vast amount of knowledge and experience. I hold a BTEC National Diploma in nursery nursing, up to date Paediatric First Aid Training and Level 2 Award for Food Safety in Catering. I am constantly looking to update and add to my training & qualifications in order to provide the best possible care for your children. My husband and i are also CRB checked.
I have worked in childcare all my adult life and I absolutely love my job
Why should I choose Cherry Blossom childcare?
As a mother myself i fully understand the anxieties and worries that come with finding the right childcare for your little ones. At Cherry Blossom childcare i provide a friendly, professional and loving environment for your children. I work closely with you the parents as nobody knows your child better than you and the information you can provide from their home life really helps me in understanding your child’s likes and dislikes so i can provide the best setting to help your child learn and develop.
We work with and involve parents in lots of ways:
- During registration finding out your child’s needs, routines, likes & dislikes.
- In the early days we regularly update you on how your child is settling in and I don’t mind how many times you call me.
- At collection times we verbally discuss your child’s day with you.
We share your childs diary and progress with you - observations, photographs. You are encouraged to make comments in your child’s book, after all having an understanding of what your child likes and does at home helps us to understand your child better and enables us to provide a higher level of continued care.
I have never left my child before:
Leaving your child for the first time can be stressful and quite daunting. At Cherry Blossom Childcare as a mother i understand these feelings and will make it our priority to put you and your child at ease especially when your child first attends. In order to settle your child into our setting together we plan a series of visits. The frequency and duration very much dependent on your child’s needs.
A typical settling in routine would be:
- An hours initial visit with mum and dad
- A two hours stay and play alone incorporating a snack or lunch
Don’t you just play all day?
Play is vital for children. In play children learn at their highest level. Play helps children to explore and understand the world, to try out and practice ideas and skills, to risk take, to be in control and to think imaginatively. Everything your child does is linked back to EYFS which is the Early Years Foundation Stage. This sets standards for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years old. All schools and Ofsted-registered early years providers must follow the EYFS, including childminders, preschools, nurseries and school reception classes.
Play helps children to develop socially & emotionally, to use all their senses, have fun and become confident learners for the future.
All children have a daily opportunity to play outside. The benefits of outdoor play are numerous and exposure to fresh air has many health benefits. The exposure to fresh air and the opportunity to exercise reduces their exposure to the risk of infection, increases their oxygen intake and enables their bodies to produce vitamin D. Parents are requested to provide their child with appropriate outdoor clothing – wellies, raincoat, snowsuit, sunhats/suncream and we are always grateful if children have shoes that they can put on themselves.
